It came from being curious and stepping outside my job description to build tools in Power Apps and Power Automate that solved problems for the division. Leadership noticed the impact, and that opened the door for me to officially move into a role that matched the skills I’d been developing.
With my current manager, the conversation was about how my tech projects were already creating value, and whether expanding that work could benefit the whole division. With my future manager, it was more about vision; how my role could grow and directly support leadership through strategic data driven insights.
I want to continue growing in HROE by driving technology leadership and helping the division adapt to a workplace that’s increasingly shaped by data and innovation. My focus is on leveraging automation and analytics to make HROE more efficient and responsive while keeping it people-centered, ensuring we stay aligned with both modern trends and Texas A&M’s core mission.
Personally, it’s been energizing to see my passion for tech officially become part of my career. Professionally, I’ve gained new visibility, influence, and the chance to contribute at a higher level. Overall, it’s made me more confident that I can shape my own path here.
I learned that I thrive when I’m building solutions and pushing ideas forward, even if they don’t fit neatly inside my job description. I also realized that taking initiative matters more than waiting for a perfect opportunity.
Career growth here doesn’t always come from following a straight path, it often comes from noticing problems and daring to solve them. That’s been my story, and it’s why I believe Texas A&M is a place where mobility and innovation can go hand-in-hand.
